Staff Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design, installation, commissioning, and ramp-up of a new manufacturing facility. This role will cover the entire project lifecycle, from initial design and planning to full-scale production ramp-up. The ideal candidate will have mechanical engineering expertise and extensive experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to ensure seamless equipment deployment and operational readiness. 

This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing process development, equipment selection, facility layout, installation, and operational optimization to build a world-class production facility. 

Key Responsibilities 
  • Facility & Manufacturing System Design Develop manufacturing process requirements and translate them into facility and equipment specifications Lead the mechanical design, layout, and infrastructure planning of the production facility Collaborate with architects, contractors, and facilities teams to ensure alignment with operational needs Conduct design reviews to optimize factory flow, equipment placement, and material handling systems

  • Equipment Selection & Procurement Define technical specifications for manufacturing equipment and automation solutions Work with suppliers to select, customize, and procure industrial machinery Ensure all equipment meets performance, reliability, and safety standards Manage vendor relationships and oversee equipment fabrication timelines

  • Installation & Equipment Landing Plan and execute the landing, positioning, and integration of large-scale manufacturing equipment Ensure proper facility readiness, including utilities (power, HVAC, compressed air, etc.) Oversee rigging, anchoring, and leveling of heavy industrial equipment Develop and implement installation SOPs to standardize processes across projects

  • Commissioning & Validation (FAT/SAT) Develop and execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) protocols Lead equipment commissioning, troubleshooting integration issues across mechanical, automation, and control systems Validate equipment performance metrics, including cycle times, reliability, and process capability Implement failure analysis and corrective actions to address early-stage operational challenges

  • Production Ramp-Up & Optimization Drive process validation to ensure smooth transition from commissioning to full-scale production Support ramp-up by optimizing cycle times, yield, and throughput Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime Collaborate with quality, maintenance, and operations teams to establish robust preventive maintenance and reliability strategies


Required Qualifications 
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, factory setup, and equipment commissioning

  • Strong mechanical engineering expertise, including facility and equipment design

  • Proven experience managing the full lifecycle of manufacturing facility projects, from design to ramp-up

  • Hands-on experience with FAT/SAT procedures for equipment validation

  • Expertise in factory layout, equipment integration, and automation

  • Knowledge of industrial safety regulations and compliance (OSHA, ISO 9001, NFPA, etc.)

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for production equipment failures and process inefficiencies 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing and industrial automation

  • Background in robotics, PLC-controlled systems, and industrial automation

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and process optimization methodologies

  • Familiarity with SCADA and industrial control systems

  • Experience with facility expansion and greenfield manufacturing projects

Working Environment This role requires hands-on involvement throughout the entire project lifecycle, from facility design and equipment selection to commissioning and production ramp-up. The candidate must be comfortable working on the manufacturing floor, leading equipment installations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Some domestic and international travel may be required for vendor visits, FAT/SAT testing, and onsite commissioning.
